Forestry Mulching
Mulching is a type of land clearing that involves grinding up everything on the surface and leaving the stumps in the ground. You have probably seen mulching operations next to the interstate while you’re driving. Mulching is great if you’re aiming for an open line of sight or trying to thin out the forest.
If you’re looking to develop the site beyond building a house or planting a yard, mulching is probably not the way to go. You will want all stumps to be dug up and removed as well.
Stump Removal
Stump removal can be a real hassle. Stumps go deep down into the ground and require large machinery to get them out. That’s why we have you covered with stump removal services in and around New Buffalo, Michigan. We can either grind or dig your stumps up for you. Whether you have just a couple of stumps or acres of them, we have you covered.
We will handle contacting utility marking services, digging the stump up (or grinding it), and cleaning up when we are done. If they are in your yard, we can even plant grass afterward.

Brush Removal
Brush, bushes, and small trees can sometimes be slower to remove than even larger trees without the right equipment. We specialize in removing this brush quickly and efficiently with forestry mulchers. These mulching machines grind up small brush, trees, and tall grass in place. We remove brush along fence lines, pastures, roadways, and more.
Driveway Installation & Erosion Control
New Gravel Driveways
The first thing most people need after clearing the land is a new driveway so they can access their property. If you need a gravel driveway or access road installed in or around New Buffalo, we can take care of this for you.
New driveways require filing a driveway permit with local authorities and coordinating several details. While property owners usually have to file the permit themselves, we can help walk you through the process.
Installing a new driveway involves removing topsoil from the area where the driveway will be placed and grading the driveway bed and surrounding area to the correct height. We compact all dirt as necessary and then install your gravel. We recommend at least 8 inches of gravel, with larger stones on the bottom and smaller stones on top. Additionally, a culvert will need to be installed along the road for water to pass through the ditch.
Erosion Control
When vegetation and plants are removed from the soil, the dirt will wash away with rain. To prevent this, the land needs to be graded properly, and erosion control measures must be put in place.
Silt fence is the most common type of erosion control used during construction, but it is a temporary solution. Dirt must be covered by vegetation or rock to prevent it from washing away. Large rocks known as riprap are used in areas that experience heavy flow, such as drainage ways and along creeks and rivers.
In most areas with minimal slope, simply applying straw and grass seed is enough to prevent erosion. In sloped areas, biodegradable erosion mats may be required to allow grass to take root before being washed away.
We can help stop the erosion in your yard, along drainage ditches, or along lakes and rivers.
Grading & Excavation
We also provide grading and excavation services. Most new sites will need to be graded to make them usable. We can rake the underground roots following land clearing and grade your land to be smooth or according to your specific needs.
If you need major changes in soil heights on your property, we can cut and fill to make this happen. Cutting and filling means taking soil from one part of the site and compacting it into another area.
We can also assist with final grading, where the land is worked over with a soil conditioner to create a smooth surface, and grass is planted.
